MANILA, Philippines — A fire in Barangay Dagat-Dagatan in Navotas City claimed the lives of a family of six people, including a two-year-old child on Friday, said the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

According to the BFP, the fire began at around 5:15 a.m. The family’s mother, 41, and father, 41, perished in the fire.

The parents’ son, 10, and daughters aged 3 and 2 years old, also died along with their niece, 14, the BFP added.

The fire reached the first alarm, and four firetrucks arrived at the scene to respond, it also said. Fire out was declared by 5:44 a.m.

The cause of the fire is still being determined, the BFP said.
