Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto bolts Aksyon Demokratiko
MANILA, Philippines – Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has bolted the political party Aksyon Demokratiko, said the party’s Secretary General Ernest Ramel to INQUIRER.net on Wednesday.
When asked to confirm circulating reports that Sotto had left the party, Ramel stated that the reports were true.
“I can confirm,” Ramel said.
“He resigned effective June 30th, but I got the letter around July–end of July. We never released it for media purposes, so I don’t know who leaked the story and the resignation letter,” Ramel said.
In a followup statement to the media, Ramel expressed his party’s sadness over Sotto’s exit, saying that they had hoped Sotto to “be the future of Aksyon Demokratiko.”

The letter, dated June 30, said that unspecified, “recent events” have made it clear that the party is “no longer a group of individuals with similar political goals and ideals.”
“To me, this defeats the purpose of being a member of a political party. For this reason, I have decided to resign as a member of Aksyon Demokratiko,” Sotto said.
