LUCENA CITY — A 20-year-old woman and a boy drowned Tuesday in two separate incidents in Quezon province, the police said on Wednesday, Nov. 2.
The Quezon police reported that Patricia Macinas, and her sister Stephanie, were swimming around 3:15 p.m. in Tayabas Bay in Barangay Bignay 1 in Sariaya town.
Suddenly, a strong wave hit Stephanie, causing her to sink. Patricia, who came to her rescue, managed to recover her sister and put her on a rescue boat.
However, Patricia also sank but rescuers later recovered her.
The siblings were taken to a hospital in the town center, but Patricia was declared dead on arrival.
In Lopez town, the body of Aven Lance Nollora, a minor, was found floating around 9 p.m. in a creek at Barangay Canda Ibaba.
His mother said she ordered her son to run an errand at 6 p.m., but he did not return. The police believed that Nollora drowned in the creek while he was crossing it.
Quezon has been experiencing heavy rains due to inclement weather since last week.
