Work, classes suspended in Vigan, Batac cities on November 2
LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte — Government employees and students in the cities of Vigan and Batac in this province got an extended holiday after their local government units suspended work and classes on Wednesday, November 2.
In an executive order on Tuesday, Vigan Mayor Jose “Bonito” Singson Jr. suspended classes at all levels in public schools and government work on Wednesday.
Singson said the suspension would give them more time to be with their families and visit their departed loved ones on All Souls’ Day.
He said some government employees already worked overtime on October 29 and 30 to ensure the city’s preparedness and emergency response during the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Paeng (international name: Nalgae).

Article continues after this advertisementIn a memorandum, Gov. Jeremias “Jerry” Singson also suspended work on November 2 at the Ilocos Sur Capitol, allowing employees more time with their families and commemorating their loved ones.
According to an executive order issued by Mayor Alber Chua in Batac, classes at all levels in public and private schools and work in government offices were also suspended on Wednesday. INQ
