MANILA, Philippines — As of Monday, it is unclear whether or if anyone has formally petitioned to delay the 2022 bar exam in light of the damage caused by Typhoon Paeng, the Supreme Court’s Public Information Office (SC-PIO) told reporters Monday.
“I think it would be premature to say that the OBC (Office of the Bar Confidant) has received a formal request or petition on this considering the official holidays,” SC Spokesperson Atty. Brian Keith Hosaka said.
“I would have to wait for Nov. 2 to be able to respond to your question,” he said.
The death toll from Typhoon Paeng has reached 98 and affected over 500,000 families nationwide, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

With the hashtag #MoveTheBar2022, social media users are pleading for a rescheduling of the Bar exams, saying, “no Barsibs should be left behind.”
The examination is on November 9, 13, 16, and 20.
Hosaka said 9,916 examinees are expected to take the bar. The number is down from the approved initially 10.075 applicants.
