OLONGAPO CITY — A classroom and a house in this city were damaged by trees that were knocked down by strong winds due to Severe Tropical Storm “Paeng” (international name Nalgae), authorities said Monday, Oct. 31.

In a Facebook post, Kagawad (councilor) John Tagulao Cruz of Barangay Sta. Rita showed the damage caused by tree trunks pierced through the roof of an empty classroom at Balic-Balic Elementary School.

Cruz also said that a house in the village was also struck by a large tree trunk, damaging the roof.

In both incidents, no one was injured.

At the height of Paeng’s onslaught, the city was placed under Storm Signal No. 3 on Oct. 29.

Paeng also raised the water level in one of the rivers in the city to an alarming mark on Sunday. INQ
