Over P125,000 meth seized in Bicol

P374,000 shabu seized in Camarines Norte bust

LEGAZPI CITY — Anti-narcotics operatives arrested two suspected drug traders and seized P125,800 worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) in separate operations on Sunday, Oct. 30, in Masbate and Camarines Norte.

Lieutenant Colonel Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, reported Monday that they arrested around 6:30 a.m. Benjie Balatucan, 29, during a search operation in Barangay Palobandera in Cawayan town in Masbate province.

Seized during the operation were five sachets or 16 grams of shabu worth P108,800, a caliber .45 pistol, a caliber 38 revolver, and three cartridge cases for caliber 357.

Calubaquib said Balatucan was a high-value individual.

In Daet town in Camarines Norte, Arnel Rocabo, 43, was arrested around 5:10 a.m. in Barangay Magang.

Four sachets or 2.5 grams of shabu worth P17,000 were confiscated from Rocabo, who was tagged as a street-level drug peddler.

The suspects were placed in police custody for proper disposition. INQ
