1 dead, 10 hurt in van-truck collision in Lucena City
LUCENA CITY — A van driver died while his 10 passengers were injured after their vehicle was hit by a cargo truck along the diversion road here early Friday morning.
The Lucena City police reported that a truck driven by Aries Nacor, 24, collided head-on with the passenger van driven by Arjay Dela Cueva, 31, along the section of the diversion road in Barangay Domoit at 12:05 a.m.
Dela Cueva died on the spot while the 10 passengers, including two children, were rushed to two separate hospitals in the city.
Police said that based on the initial investigation, the cargo truck occupied the opposite lane, which resulted in the collision.
Nacor said that he veered to the opposite lane because he tried to avoid hitting a motorcycle in front of him.
Nacor was placed under police custody.
