SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — The third week of October saw a decreasing COVID-19 positivity rate in this province, according to OCTA Research.

The independent pandemic monitor reported on Monday, Oct. 24, that Zambales had a 16.5-percent positivity rate from Oct. 16 to Oct. 22, based on Department of Health data. It went down from 22 percent the previous week.

The positivity rate refers to the percentage of tests that turn out positive.

Zambales and three other provinces in Central Luzon—Bataan, Bulacan, and Pampanga—recorded a drop in the weekly COVID-19 positivity rate.
It was the first time in recent weeks that Zambales’ positivity rate went down amid a surge in new infections.

As of Sunday, the active COVID-19 cases in the province stood at 15 after registering a new case that day.

Since 2020, Zambales has tallied 12,479 COVID-19 cases with 11,744 recoveries and 720 deaths. INQ
