COVID positivity rates in 7 areas now at ‘high level’ – Octa Research
MANILA, Philippines — The seven-day COVID-19 positivity rate in seven provinces across the country has “increased to high levels,” independent pandemic monitor Octa Research Group said Monday.
Octa fellow Dr. Guido David, in a tweet, said the positivity rate as of October 22 hiked in Cagayan, Iloilo, Isabela, La Union, Misamis Oriental, Pangasinan, and Tarlac in comparison with its records last October 15.
He further detailed that these provinces posted the following increases in their positivity rates:
- Cagayan – 7.7 to 13.6 percent
- Iloilo – 13.6 to 15.2 percent
- Isabela – 12.1 to 20.7 percent
- La Union – 13.2 to 20.9 percent
- Misamis Oriental – 18.4 to 23.2 percent
- Pangasinan – 14.4 to 15.6 percent
- Tarlac – 41.6 to 50.6 percent
Meanwhile, David said the COVID-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila dropped from 14.9 percent to 12.3 percent, while that in the Calabarzon provinces (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) have similarly dipped.

The Department of Health on Sunday reported 1,585 new COVID-19 infections in the country. From these new cases, 465 were from Metro Manila.
