Detained cop tries to kill self at Cavite PNP station

Suspect in rape-slay of teen girl in Cavite nabbed

LUCENA CITY — A junior police officer, a robbery suspect, allegedly tried to kill himself on Sunday, Oct. 23, while in police custody in General Trias City, Cavite province.

The Calabarzon police reported that Lieutenant Reynaldo Afable requested to use the toilet at 2:40 p.m.

While inside the toilet, Afable reportedly stabbed his neck using a scissor that he got inside the station.

The injured cop was immediately brought to the Divine Grace Medical Center for treatment and is now in stable condition.

Investigators said Afable, who is active in the police force, is one of the suspects in a robbery on Oct. 18 inside a subdivision in the city.

The robbers took their victim’s 9-mm pistol and assorted pieces of jewelry worth P1 million. INQ
