Comelec sets summit for election reform
MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is set to hold an elections summit to gather recommendations on how to improve the Philippine electoral system.
The National Elections Summit is scheduled for January 2023 and will be participated by various election stakeholders in the country.
“One objective of this summit is to provide a platform for a national dialogue and interaction with consultation and participation of election stakeholders in the review, formulation, or enhancement of policies, plans and programs in election administration and electoral enforcement and adjudication,” said Comelec Commissioner Nelson Celis in a statement.
According to him, a series of consultations will be conducted by the poll body prior to the actual summit.
Celis said policy recommendations emanating from the summit will be endorsed for consideration of the Comelec en banc and these may also be forwarded to \Congress to help enhance the legal framework shaping the election system.
