2 nabbed over sale of other people’s e-wallets
Authorities arrested in Pasig City on Tuesday two men for illegally selling cellphone subscriber identity modules (SIM) with verified e-wallet accounts that are used for online transactions.
The Eastern Police District’s anti-cybercrime team identified the suspects as Jomel Sichon and Mark Ray Veroy, who were entrapped by law enforcers.
Sichon later identified Veroy, who was supposedly the supplier of the SIM cards.
The team’s leader, Maj. Ely Compuesto II, said both men are in police custody and will be charged with violations of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. —ABBY BOISER
