ADGERS SPORTSWEAR advanced to the championship round after slipping past the CVIRAA Selection, 74-71, in the semifinals of the 2012 ThreeSixty Pharmacy Cup 19-under division yesterday at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.
The game was nearly a virtual repeat of their encounter in the elimination round, wherein Adgers escaped with a 48-45 win.
The game was played with more of the same elements as Adgers surged ahead and led by as many as 17 points in the fourth period before hanging on for dear life in the end to advance to the finals against the University of San Carlos-RDAK.
Adgers imposed their will against the youthful Palarong Pambansa-bound squad and led, 41-29, at halftime behind the combined 21 markers of gunner Allen Dimco and Mark Kong. So dominant was Adgers that they even extended their lead to 57-43, heading to the final stanza.
Dimco scored 28 to lead Adgers. He had 12 of the team’s 17 points in the final canto. Lugie Cuyos added 12 while Kong finished with 10.
CVIRAA Selection was paced by the 21 of Julius Cadavis, 15 of which came in the fourth. Patrick Go contributed 16 points./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
