THE Rojo siblings, Joseph and Vince, came away with the major titles after ruling the KT Expert and Novice classes during the 2012 Kartzone Karting Series held over the weekend at the Kart Zone in Brgy. Panagdait, Mabolo.
Joseph Rojo bested two other ace racers for the Expert plum with multi-titled karters Jette Calderon and Juan Antonio “Tonyo” Carcel finishing in second and third spots, respectively.
Vince Rojo on the other hand, came out of nowhere to upend Kali Carcel to take the crown in the Novice class. Kali Carcel appeared to be well on her way to bagging the title as she won the first and second heats in convincing fashion. However, Vince Rojo saved his best for last as he topped the last and final heat to snatch the crown. In second place was Peter Edward Lim while Kali Carcel settled for third place.
The Expert class race was a more exciting one as three different racers won the three heats. Tonyo Carcel started the day right as he won the first heat with a huge three second lead over Joseph Rojo and Calderon. However, Carcel stumbled in the second heat due to a collision with the backmarker which led to Calderon winning the heat. Joseph Rojo though, had the last laugh, as he won the final heat for the diadem.
Meanwhile, in related development, Calderon will be campaigning in the 2012 Denso KF2/KF3 Karting Series where he will be supported by Red Bull. Calderon will be Red Bull’s junior karter driver as he resumes his drive to become the Philippine International Junior Karter of the Year.
