MANILA, Philippines — A total of 200 inmates from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa were transferred to Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm in Occidental Mindoro on Monday in a bid to decongest the prison, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said in a statement on Wednesday.

The 200 inmates from the medium-security went through a rapid antigen testing and frisking to check for contraband before being transported in a BuCor bus.

“The aim of this move is to implement that decongestion program of the Bureau of Corrections,” the statement said.
