LUCENA CITY — A 41-year-old man and a minor died in a shooting allegedly triggered by a “love triangle” in Candelaria town in Quezon province on Tuesday night.
The Candelaria police reported on Wednesday, Oct. 19, that Rodel Panaligan was standing at around 10:30 p.m. in front of his house in Barangay Sta. Catalina Norte when a gunman appeared and shot him twice, hitting his head and left waist. Panaligan died on the spot.
The girl, who was not identified in the report due to her young age, was standing inside the house and was hit by a stray bullet on her lower left chest. She died while being taken to the Peter Paul Medical Center in the locality.
The assailant fled after the shooting.
Investigators have identified a person of interest behind the shooting and launched a manhunt.
The police said there could be a “love triangle” involving Panaligan and the gunman.
The police did not give details on the suspect and the other person in the so-called love triangle.
