Expect heavy rain in Cagayan Valley; fair weather rest of PH on Wednesday

MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rain is expected in Cagayan Valley on Wednesday due to the effect of the shear line, while the rest of the country will have fairer weather, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Inaasahan natin na ang shear line ay bahagya pang bababa sa Cagayan Valley area, kaya naman asahan ang malalakas na ulan na maaaring dala nitong shear line bukas,” said Pagasa weather specialist Patrick Del Mundo

(We expect the shear line to descend slightly in the Cagayan Valley area, so expect heavy rains that may be brought by this shear line tomorrow.)

“Sa kalakhang Luzon naman kasama na ‘yung Metro Manila ay may tiyansa pa rin ng pag-ulan dulot ng localized thunderstorms,” he added.

(In the other part of Luzon, including Metro Manila, there is still a chance of rain caused by localized thunderstorms.)

On the other hand, relatively fairer weather is forecast over the entire Visayas and Mindanao but rain due to localized thunderstorms should still be expected.

Meanwhile, a low-pressure area is still being monitored 1,085 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon. It is not expected to escalate into a storm, but Del Mundo said that it is still possible.

Gale warning also remains raised along the seaboards of Northern Luzon, specifically on the coasts of Batanes, Cagayan, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan.
