‘We’re doing everything’

To refute accusations that the government is doing nothing on the power crisis in Mindanao, Energy Secretary Jose Rene Almendras said the government had already started the P2.6-billion rehabilitation of the Agus hydropower facility in Mindanao.

In a statement, Almendras also hit back at critics saying the Aquino administration is not doing anything to address the problem, saying President Aquino is “doing everything” to make sure there is enough electricity not only in Mindanao but the entire country.

“Contrary to what some sectors are saying that the government is not doing anything, there is a P2.6 billion worth of power plant project that consists of building new power plants and rehabilitating existing power plants,” Almendras said in the statement.
