TUGUEGARAO CITY—Nine fishermen on board three boats were rescued after strong waves and gusty winds destroyed their seacraft in the waters off Claveria town, Cagayan province, on Tuesday (Oct. 18) morning, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.

Personnel of PCG-Claveria Substation said the boats came from Fuga Island and were supposed to bring farm animals to mainland Cagayan.

The debris of the damaged boats had been recovered and the fishermen were brought to safety, the PCG said.
