Ilocos region logs 326 new COVID-19 cases in 1 week

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte — At least 326 COVID-19 cases were detected in the Ilocos region between Oct. 9 and 15, the regional Department of Health (DOH) said Monday, Oct. 17.

The figure slightly increased the region’s average daily case count to 46, or 5.8 percent more than the previous week.

Of the 326 new COVID-18 cases, one was tagged by the regional DOH as a severe and critical case.

The DOH did not report deaths due to the virus during the same period.

As of Oct. 16, the healthcare utilization rate in the region remained at a “safe” level, with 45 of the 215 intensive care unit beds for COVID-19 patients already occupied.

At least 295 of the 1,351 non-ICU beds were also occupied, the DOH added. INQ
