Classes suspended in Ilocos Norte on Monday due to Neneng

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte — Classes in primary and secondary levels in both public and private schools in Ilocos Norte province are suspended on Monday, Oct. 17, due to the onslaught of Typhoon “Neneng” (international name: Nesat).

In an announcement posted on Facebook, Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc said that the cancellation of classes would “avert potential dangers to our learners while our concerned agencies assess the extent of damage to public infrastructure caused by the heavy rainfall.”

In a separate statement, Manotoc said that the provincial social welfare and development office would be launching relief efforts in affected areas in the province.
