MANILA, Philippines — The special elections for the Cavite congressional seat vacated by Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla will be held on Feb. 25 next year.

Under Resolution 10848 dated Oct. 5, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said candidates may file their certificates of candidacy (COC) for Cavite’s 7th congressional district from Dec. 5 to Dec. 6 this year.

The official campaign period will run from Jan. 26 to Feb. 23, 2023. Comelec Chair George Garcia said under Republic Act 8295, if only one candidate filed a COC, the Comelec will just proclaim the lone candidate and will no longer hold the special elections.
