Pagasa: Cloudy Friday with rain showers as Neneng swirls off Luzon
MANILA, Philippines —The trough or extension of Tropical depression Neneng will trigger rain in parts of the country on Friday, according to the state weather bureau.
In its early morning update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that Neneng was located some 1,015 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 70 kph.
“Yung trough ng kaulapan na dala ni Neneng ay umaabot sa bahagi ng Quezon province, dito sa Bicol region, sa Biliran, Samar provinces, pati na rin sa ibang bahagi ng Mimaropa, particular na sa Marinduque at Romblon. Asahan natin na ngayong umaga pa lang, may kaulapan na tayo at kalat-kalat na pag-ulan,” said Pagasa weather forecaster Daniel James Villamil in the bureau’s morning weather forecast.

“On the track forecast, Neneng will make landfall or may pass very close to Babuyan Islands or Batanes,” Pagasa said in its latest Tropical Cyclone Bulletin.
New threat
Meanwhile, Pagasa is also monitoring another tropical depression outside of the Philippine area of responsibility, some 405 kilometers north-northwest of Pagasa Island, Palawan, with maximum sustained winds 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.
Pagasa warned of possible landslides and flash floods in areas affected by heavy rainfall.
