SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Shellfish samples collected by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) from the coastal waters of this province and nearby Bataan and Pampanga continued to be free of the toxic red tide, the agency said Wednesday, Oct. 12.
Citing its latest shellfish bulletin released on Oct. 7, the BFAR said all kinds of shellfish, alamang (shrimp fry), and other seafood gathered in these areas are safe for human consumption.
The agency has been regularly monitoring the coastal waters of these provinces to determine the presence of toxic microorganisms that cause paralytic shellfish poisoning.
