308 new COVID-19 cases added to Ilocos region’s weekly tally

The number of weekly COVID-19 cases reported in the region between Oct. 2 and Oct. 8 rose slightly to 308 from 299 cases in the previous week, the regional Department of Health (DOH) said Monday, Oct. 10.

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—The number of weekly COVID-19 cases reported in the region between Oct. 2 and Oct. 8 rose slightly to 308 from 299 cases in the previous week, the regional Department of Health (DOH) said Monday, Oct. 10.

The new cases brought the average daily case count in the region to 44, which was three percent higher than the cases tallied between Sept. 25 and Oct. 1, the DOH said.

Of the 208 new cases, one was tagged by the regional DOH as a severe or critical case.

From Oct. 2 to 8, the regional DOH verified six deaths due to the virus.

As of Oct. 8, the healthcare utilization rate in the region remained at a “safe” level, with 48 of the 218 intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients occupied.

At least 225 of the 1,344 non-ICU beds were occupied, the DOH added. INQ
