Fair weather in most of PH, except parts of Northern Luzon — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Generally fair weather will prevail over most parts of the country on Monday, while some areas in Northern Luzon should expect rain due to the effects of a nearing low pressure area (LPA), said the state weather bureau.

According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Patrick Del Mundo, the said LPA was last spotted 1,010 kilometers east of Northern Luzon.

“Sa ngayon ay mababa ang tiyansa nito na maging isang ganap na bagyo in the next 24 hours, ngunit hindi natin inaalis ‘yung possibility na maging bagyo ito bago ito lumapit ng Northern Luzon area,” said Del Mundo.

(Right now there is a low chance of it becoming a full typhoon in the next 24 hours, but we are not eliminating the possibility of it becoming a typhoon before it approaches the Northern Luzon area.)

Another LPA is also currently being monitored by Pagasa outside PAR, which Del Mundo said is currently located 1,805 kilometers east of Visayas.

“Para sa panahon bukas, sa kalakhang Luzon ay mararanasan pa rin ang generally fair weather conditions maliban na lang sa mga tiyansa ng pagulan lalong lalo na sa hapon o sa gabi,” said Del Mundo.

(For tomorrow’s weather, in most of Luzon, generally fair weather conditions will still be experienced but there will be a chance of rain, especially in the afternoon or evening.)

“Samantala dito sa area ng Batanes, Babuyan Islands maging sa Cagayan valley ay maaaring makaranas ng pagulan dahil sa northeasterly surface windflow at gayundin ang paglapit ng LPA sa silangang bahagi ng Luzon,” he added.

(Meanwhile here in the Batanes area, Babuyan Islands even in the Cagayan valley may experience rain due to the northeasterly surface wind flow and also the LPA coming closer to the eastern part of Luzon.)

Generally fair weather conditions with a chance of rain are then expected over Visayas and Mindanao.

The rest of Mindanao, on the other hand, will have fairer weather with hot and humid temperatures.

Another LPA is currently being monitored by Pagasa outside PAR, which Del Mundo said is currently located 1,805 kilometers east of Visayas.

Currently, a gale warning is raised over the northern seaboards of Northern Luzon, including Batanes and Babuyan Islands as rough to very rough seas are expected to prevail in these waters.

The state weather service said the temperature range in key cities/areas across the country for Monday will be:
