MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Imee Marcos on Sunday urged former Sen. Leila de Lima to have herself checked by her own physician, as well as to take the extended home furlough offered by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Department of Justice since July.
Marcos said this in a statement after De Lima survived a foiled hostage attempt inside the PNP Custodial Facility in Camp Crame.

“I strongly urge Sen. Leila de Lima to have the medical checkup she requires, with her own physician, as well as immediately take up the extended home furlough that both the DOJ and the PNP offered as early as July,” said Marcos.
“As former members of the Kabataang Barangay together, we are all deeply worried about her health and safety,” she added.
De Lima’s legal counsel Atty. Boni Tacardon, however, told INQUIRER.net in a text message that they were not aware of the offer for an extended home furlough.
But Tacardon said that they will confirm this offer by Monday.
It can be recalled that De Lima was last granted a furlough in June, but only a medical one, to allow her to undergo a “major” surgery from June 19 to 25.
