CAMP GEN. ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — A suspect in the robbery of a convenience store was killed during an encounter with the police early morning Sunday, Oct. 9, in Baliwag town in Bulacan province.
Bulacan police chief Police Colonel Relly Arnedo said both the suspect and his companion, while riding a motorcycle, evaded the police when they were flagged down in Barangay (village) Sullivan after robbing the AlfaMart store located in the village around 1 a.m. The report did not identify the suspect and his companion.
The police launched a hot pursuit after the store crew immediately reported the incident.
The suspect fired shots at the pursuing police, prompting the cops to retaliate and hit him. The suspect died on the spot and fell on the street.
His companion, however, managed to escape.
Recovered from the slain suspect were 4 pieces of fired cartridges from a caliber .45 gun, one Armscor caliber .45 pistol with 1 magazine and five cartridges, and a belt bag with P4,240 cash.
Since July, the suspect is the fourth robber who was killed after victimizing an AlfaMart convenience store in Bulacan. Almost 10 branches of the said store were robbed by different groups of suspects.
