Police anti-cybercrime enforcers arrested on Thursday a 33-year-old man for molesting a 14-year-old ninth grader whom he brought to a Quezon City motel.
Lawmen identified the suspect as Estelito Gibaga Jr., who befriended the girl on the chat room of the popular mobile game Mobile Legends in August.
Lt. Michael Bernardo, officer in charge of the Quezon City police anticybercrime team, said Gibaga, who uses the name “Steel Gibaga” online, seduced the child over the course of a month and the police were only informed after the child’s mother caught her chatting with him late at night.
The girl admitted that she was made to do “obscene things.”
The authorities organized a sting operation and arrested Gibaga who checked into a motel with the girl 4:30 p.m. of Thursday.
Gibaga is facing charges of child abuse, child pornography and other cybercrimes. —DEXTER CABALZA
