BACOLOD CITY — The Negrense Volunteers for Change (NVC) Foundation has created “an all-in-one swoop gifts that save the earth” for Christmas.

The gifts crafted in NVC Foundation’s Artisans of Hope livelihood workshops are colorful Christmas balls, miniature parols, nativity scenes and angels to hang on one’s tree made of discarded Nespresso capsules.

“They are not only perfect as Christmas gifts, they are actually gifts that give back,” said Millie Kilayko, president of NVC, on Wednesday, October 5.

The foundation started producing these unique, beautifully handcrafted gifts early for people who want to make the spirit of giving this Christmas extra meaningful and special.

“That is because each ornament they buy feeds an undernourished child with Mingo Meals to give them a better start in life,” Kilayko said.

Mingo meals manufactured by NVC are nutritious instant complementary food that has helped 49,442 undernourished children recover in the last 11 years.

The 3.5-inch ball feeds a child daily for a month, while the 4-inch ball feeds for 3 months. They come in gift boxes with explanatory cards.

A parol with one monthly sponsorship of mingo meals for a child comes in a gift box with a sponsorship card that costs P650.

One can also buy a parol in a pouch with a card for P385.

The standing angel ornament sells at P190 and the flying angel ornament with a pouch at P275.

NVC also sells miniature crocheted parol ornaments that come with  a Christmas card with this message: “To celebrate the tradition of sharing during this holiday season, a contribution was made in your name to help provide undernourished children in the Philippines with Mingo Meals.”

The card with a crocheted parol sells for P350.

The ornaments also support local artisans’ livelihood and help save the environment by recycling discarded Nespresso capsules, Kilayko said.

Those who wish to give a gift that gives back this Christmas may call NVC at (0917) 309 0939 or send a message to [email protected]
