MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Anti-Cybercrime Group is conducting a forensic examination on the mobile phone of veteran broadcast journalist Percival Mabasa, popularly known as Percy Lapid, who died in an ambush early this week.
According to Southern Police District (SPD) Director Col. Kirby John Kraft, it is also trying to enhance new CCTV footage obtained by authorities.

Kraft said the result of the forensic examination on Lapid’s mobile phone might be presented during their second case conference later Thursday afternoon.
“Mamaya kasi magkakaroon kami ng second case conference, so magpe-present siguro ang Anti-Cybercrime Group kung ano ‘yung development na nakita nila dito sa celfone ng ating biktima,” the SPD chief told reporters on Thursday when sought for updates on Lapid’s case.
(Later, we will have a second case conference, so perhaps the Anti-Cybercrime Group will present developments they found through examining the victim’s cellphone).
