Motorcyclist dies in Quezon mishap

Motorcyclist dead in Quezon highway mishap

LUCENA CITY — A motorcycle rider died early Thursday, Oct. 6, when his vehicle crashed into a parked truck tractor head along the Maharlika Highway in Calauag town in Quezon province, police said.

The Calauag police reported that Edmond Ruiz lost control of his motorcycle and consequently crashed at 1 a.m. into the rear portion of a truck tractor head parked on the roadside in Barangay Bagong Silang.

Ruiz died on the spot from his injuries.

The report did not state whether or not the fatality was wearing a crash helmet, which the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009 requires.

The police are conducting further investigation.
