MANILA, Philippines—One child was dead in an increasing number of diarrhea cases in two zones in a village in Polilio Island, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Council said Monday.

The report said there were other 30 cases of acute gastroenteritis in Purok 2 and 5 of Barangay Tulaong in Polilio Island, which was located 500 meters from the village health station.

The cause of diarrhea in the village was said to be from contaminated bodies of water. Water samples from other sources were also collected to further determine the cause.
