MANILA, Philippines — The weekly COVID-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila was at 19 percent as of October 3, according to Octa Research fellow Guido David.

David said this ratio is higher than the recorded percentage during the previous week, or as of September 26, which was at 18.7 percent.

But David also noted that the latest rate is slightly lower than October 2’s 19.1 percent.

“Hopefully the positivity rate trends downward,” he said Wednesday.

The Department of Health (DOH) has previously classified Metro Manila under moderate risk for COVID-19 transmission as new infections significantly increased over the past weeks.

October 4 data on DOH’s COVID-19 tracker showed that among the country’s regions, Metro Manila posted the highest number of news cases during the last two weeks at 13,559, which was more than twice the 5,515 cases recorded in Calabarzon.

Also, the coronavirus monitor on the DOH website indicated that active infections nationwide stood at 26,792 as of October 4.
