PH logs 1,347 new COVID-19 infections; active tally down to 26,792

The country registered 1,347 fresh infections of COVID-19 on Tuesday, based on the Department of Health’s (DOH) COVID-19 tracker, with active infections down to 26,792.

MANILA, Philippines — The country registered 1,347 fresh infections of COVID-19 on Tuesday, based on the Department of Health’s (DOH) COVID-19 tracker, with active infections down to 26,792.

These new infections brought the total COVID-19 caseload to 3,957,112, with 3,867,242 recoveries and 63,078 deaths.

The new infections are also much lower than the 2,288 recorded daily average infections from September 26 to October 2, as well as the 1,967 infections recorded on Monday.

It should be noted, however, that Tuesday’s new infections reflected the 11,418 tests conducted on Sunday, which is relatively lower than the average tests conducted by the DOH — usually ranging from 15,000 to over 20,000.

Based on past data, Sunday usually collates the lowest number of tests in a week.

The tracker also showed that Metro Manila continues to lead the list of regions with the highest number of infections in the last two weeks by a significant margin with 13,559, followed by Calabarzon with 5,616 and Central Luzon with 2,836.

In terms of individual areas, Quezon City continues to lead with 3,365 infections, followed by Cavite with 1,918 and Rizal with 1,738.

Meanwhile, 15,956 individuals were tested for COVID-19 on Monday, which will reflect the tallied number of cases on Wednesday.
