Graduating student drowns in Leyte

ORMOC CITY – A graduating student was believed to have drowned while swimming in a beach at Barangay (village) Guadalupe, Baybay City, Leyte at around 9 p.m. on Friday.

Anro Guden, 21, and a resident of Barangay Masarayao, Kananga town, Leyte, was rushed to the Baybay Hospital but was declared dead by the attending physician.

Police Staff Sergeant Vincent Moquia, case investigator, said the victim along with his 12 boardmates agreed to have a night swimming at the beach at around 7:30 p.m.

While at the beach, Guden’s boardmates decided to take a dip in the sea with the victim staying at a shallow portion.

Guden was found by his friends at about 9:30 p.m. The group tried to resuscitate Guden but to no avail.

Guden was supposed to graduate after finishing his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science studies.
