Central Luzon suffers P2.7-billion agri damage due to Karding

Central Luzon sustains more than P2.7 billion worth of agricultural losses due Super Typhoon Karding

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Central Luzon sustained more than P2.7 billion worth of agricultural losses due to the onslaught of Super Typhoon Karding (international name: Noru) that battered the region recently.

In its latest report on Friday, the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) said Karding wreaked havoc on rice farms, suffering P1.9 billion worth of damage.

Corn plantations, meanwhile, incurred P50 million worth of damage while other high-value crops sustained P744.2 million worth of losses.

Data also showed that Karding damaged P10.4 million worth of livestock in the region.

The entire province of Nueva Ecija, which is known as the rice granary of the country, remained in a state of calamity due to the massive devastation it experienced.

Also under a state of calamity are Concepcion town in Tarlac province, Dingalan town in Aurora, Macabebe town in Pampanga, and San Miguel town in Bulacan. INQ
