Luis now a tropical storm but exits PAR Thursday
MANILA, Philippines — Tropical depression Luis has strengthened into a tropical storm, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Wednesday.
Luis was last located 1,000 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and a gustiness of up to 80 kph.
The tropical storm continued to move north-northwest and was predicted to be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Thursday morning.
Luis is unlikely to directly affect the weather in the country within the forecast period.
