MANILA, Philippines — A reportedly drunk security guard had shot and killed two other security guards inside the Forbes Park subdivision in Makati City, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said.
Reports from the NCRPO said the shooting happened on Monday night with a witness claiming that he first heard the suspect, identified as Julius Cortez, asking for food from the victims before the shootings.
“[A witness] informed responding investigators that suspect was drunk and asking for his viand, thereafter he heard successive gunshots hitting the above victims that resulted [in] their instantaneous death,” the NCRPO spot report read.
The victims were identified as Jay Ar Tomenio and Eugene Sitjar, both security guards of a house in Narra Street, South Forbes Park Village.
Cortez, meanwhile, worked as a security guard in the same residential area.
The NCRPO confirmed in a separate statement that Cortez was arrested on Tuesday after another security guard tipped police about his whereabouts.
Seized from Cortez were a caliber .40 pistol with two loaded magazines.
Cortez is now in detention as charges are being prepared for filing against him by the police.— Christian Paul Dela Cruz, INQUIRER.net trainee
