LPA east of extreme Northern Luzon intensifies into Tropical Depression Luis
MANILA, Philippines – The low-pressure area that entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) earlier Wednesday is now Tropical Depression Luis, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
Luis was last located 1,100 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 70 kph, according to state meteorologists.
“Luis is unlikely to directly affect the weather condition in the country within the forecast period,” Pagasa, however, noted in its 11 a.m. bulletin.

Pagasa also said it is not expecting Luis to make landfall as it is seen to likely exit the PAR by Thursday.
