MANILA, Philippines — The government’s special vaccination days scheduled this week went ahead as scheduled, except in Luzon, which was battered by Super Typhoon Karding (international name: Noru).

Maria Rosario Vergeire,  the officer in charge of the Department of Health (DOH), said on Tuesday that no COVID-19 jabs were damaged by the super typhoon.

The special vaccination week under the “PinasLakas” drive proceeded as scheduled in Visayas and Mindanao, with 66,576 individuals receiving their first booster on the first day of the campaign.

The destruction left by the super typhoon across Luzon prompted the DOH to extend the vaccination week until Saturday. The DOH aims to inoculate at least 30 percent of the eligible population for first boosters by Oct. 8.
