Lawmaker seeks Cardema’s ouster from youth body

MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations on Tuesday vowed to exercise its power of oversight over the funds of National Youth Commission (NYC) after a party list lawmaker moved to defer the budget deliberations for NYC until its chair Ronald Cardema is removed or resigns.

The NYC is an attached agency of the Department of the Interior and Local Government. Kabataan party list Rep. Raoul Danniel Manuel cited NYC’s alleged misappropriation of funds for programs not within its mandate.
