MMDA on red alert for Super Typhoon Karding

MANILA, Philippines – The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) declared a red alert status on Sunday to prepare for Super Typhoon Karding.

MMDA Acting Chairman Carlo Dimayuga III said the agency is ready to deploy frontline personnel and emergency vehicles to affected areas in Metro Manila.

“I’ve created Task Force Karding headed by Mr.  Aldo Mayor, Chief of MMDA Public Safety Division, which has 50 frontline personnel ready to be deployed any time,” said Dimayuga.

Dimayuga also stated that the MMDA personnel to be deployed are equipped for rescue, search and retrieval operations. They are also equipped with 78 water purifiers.

Under a red alert status, MMDA frontline personnel are covered by the “no day off, no leave” policy.

Metro Manila is now under Tropical Cyclone Wind signal No. 4.
