Classes in Aurora suspended on Monday due to Karding

MANILA, Philippines — The provincial government of Aurora has suspended classes in all levels for Monday due to Severe Tropical Storm Karding (international name: Noru), which is expected to make landfall in the country on Sunday morning or afternoon.

The province of Aurora announced the suspension as early as Saturday as Karding continued to move towards Luzon.

Karding was last located as of 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at 475 kilometers (kms) east of Casiguran, Aurora or 520 kms east of Baler, Aurora.

It is forecast to further intensify into a typhoon in the next 12 hours and may further intensify prior to making landfall on Sunday morning or afternoon.

Currently, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 (gale-force winds prevailing or expected within the next 24 hours) is raised over Aurora.
