3 alleged NPA rebels slain in Quezon clash
LUCENA CITY — Three alleged New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were killed Tuesday in an encounter with Army soldiers in General Nakar, Quezon province.
The Quezon police reported on Wednesday, Sept. 21, that patrolling Army troops encountered at 1:30 p.m. an undetermined number of NPA guerrillas in Pagsangahan village in the Sierra Madre mountain range.
After an exchange of gunfire, the rebels withdrew, leaving behind the bodies of their slain male comrades, who were not identified in the report.
The soldiers recovered two M16 rifles, an R4 carbine, and an M203 grenade launcher at the encounter site.
Troops have been deployed to pursue the rebels.
