MANILA, Philippines — Rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over parts of the country on Tuesday evening due to a new low-pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon or habagat, according to the state weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the LPA was last spotted 715 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora. It has a low chance of becoming a storm.

According to Pagasa, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol region, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, and the Samar provinces will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the LPA and the southwest monsoon.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the southwest monsoon or localized thunderstorms, said Pagasa.
The state weather bureau warned that areas affected by heavy rains face possible flash floods or landslides.
Pagasa did not raise any gale warnings over any part of the country.
