MANILA, Philippines — An additional 814 cases of several Omicron subvariants were recorded by the Department of Health (DOH) based on its latest genome sequencing run from September 16 to 19.
According to the latest data released by the DOH on Tuesday, 688 of the cases were of BA.5 sublineage detected in all regions.
The three regions that detected the highest number of this subvariant were Metro Manila, with 126, followed by 104 in Western Visayas and 75 in Cagayan Valley.
Meanwhile, only 15 infections came from the BA.4 subvariant — recorded only in Metro Manila, Bicol Region, and Soccsksargen.
Another 110 infections were tagged as “other sublineages,” while one was classified as “other lineage.”
On the other hand, ninety-seven infections were marked as “no lineage assigned.”
DOH did not specify which among these infections are currently active, have recovered or resulted in deaths.
As of September 20, the country currently has 27,686 active infections, based on the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker.
