MANILA, Philippines —The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Monday that 772 people infected with COVID-19 were hospitalized, with many in critical condition.
Based on DOH’s latest data, 24 percent or 637 of the 2,638 intensive care unit (ICU) beds are occupied.
Meanwhile, 28.9 percent, or around 6,000 of the 21,150 non-ICU beds, are being used.
Moreover, the DOH recorded 14,707 new cases from September 12 to 18, averaging 2,101 fresh COVID-19 infections per day.
The new cases are 4 percent lower than the past week — September 5 to 11.
Of the new cases, seven were severe and critically ill.
The DOH also registered 248 COVID-19 deaths.
In its recovery data, 2,057 individuals were logged to have recovered from the disease.
Octa Research group on Monday said that the positivity rates in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Pangasinan, and Rizal increased in one week or from September 10 to 17. Catherine Dabu, INQUIRER.net trainee
