Barangay kagawad nabbed for illegal guns, explosive in Batangas

LUCENA CITY – Police arrested a barangay kagawad (village councilman) for the illegal possession of firearms and a grenade that were found during a search of his house in Laurel, Batangas on Friday.
Armed with a search warrant, police officers went to the residence of Rennel Canta, 44, an incumbent village councilman, in Barangay (village) Ticub at around 8 a.m., the Batangas police said in a report.

Canta was found in possession of one undocumented and loaded .38 caliber revolver, a .9mm caliber pistol with two magazines and 28 bullets, and one grenade.
The suspect is under police custody and is facing formal complaints for illegal possession of firearms, ammunition and explosives.
